NCQA publishes annual Health Insurance Plan Ratings. We rate plans on a scale of 0–5 (0 is lowest) in .5 increments. This system is similar to Medicare’s Five-Star Quality Rating System.

Rating metrics measure health care quality and patient satisfaction. Ratings include both Accredited and nonaccredited health plans. The 2019–2020 Health Insurance Plan Ratings reviewed nearly 1,500 plans and rated more than 1,000 private (commercial), Medicare and Medicaid plans based on their combined HEDIS®, CAHPS® and Accreditation standards scores.
